Indian Canyons

With its natural beauty and wonder, the Indian Canyons have become a popular spot for those that want to get out and enjoy the fresh air while doing a little exploring and hiking.

Measuring 154 miles long, Palm Canyon is a favorite spot for those wanting to take in some of the native plants and animals. The palm trees that dot the otherwise barren landscape provide a truly unique contrast to the rocky gorges. A paved trail takes hikers down into the canyon for an afternoon of picnicking near the stream, horseback riding, hiking or even just a little meditating.

Andreas Canyon is the perfect place for those that want to work on their photography skills. The canyon is filled with more than 150 plant species covering half a mile. A foot trail leads hikers through the canyon, taking them past the groves of skirted palms and mesmerizing rock formations. The Andreas Creek is a great spot to do a little bit of bird watching or having a nice leisurely lunch.

Just a few minutes south is Murray Canyon which is famous for its seclusion and beauty. Hiking and horse trails lead visitors up to the recreation area. It is here among the palm trees that lucky visitors can get a glimpse of the endangered Big Horn Sheep as well as wild ponies and several other wild animals that call the canyon home.

For those that are looking to get out and explore a different side of Palm Springs, Indian Canyons is just what you have been looking for.
