Palm Springs Air Museum
745 North Gene Autry Trail
Palm Springs, California 92262
The Palm Springs Air Museum serves as not only inspiration to aspiring pilots, but also pays homage to World War II planes.
In addition to housing the aircraft, the museum also features artifacts, artwork and library sources, all of which is designed to educate and memorialize the role that the planes had in the victory.
Take a tour of the museum and will you get to check out the world's largest collection of WW II planes, original photographs of actual combat, WWII uniforms and video documentaries. Some of the planes that you can check out while at the museum include the Grumman F6F Hellcat, Boeing B17 Flying Fortress, Republic P47 Thunderbolt, Douglas C-47 Dakota and the McConnell Douglas F-18 Hornet.
While the exhibits and displays are truly moving, the most powerful aspect of the museum is the eyewitness accounts from people that have taken time to explain the exhibits and provide some insight and give personal stories.
To top off your visit, take some time to check out these magnificent aircraft in action. Flight demonstrations are the perfect chance to watch the aircraft take to the sky once again. The historic planes are joined by modern planes from all around the world.
For those that have had dreams of becoming a pilot or are just history buffs, the Palm Springs Air Museum is a must see.
